This was the first Warhammer 3rd Ed. battle that I had fought in about 24 years. I tried to make an army list, but all I had was infantry and no real clue what I was doing. A big thank you to my co-general Richard "Orc Lord" for putting up with my wonky deployment and organizational choices, and our opponents Andrew, Dustin and PA Chris for helping me muddle through a game.
For the following Comic I used Comic Life 3 (as per usual) but without a template. I learned how to texture the page in the program and played round with the formatting of the panels. Lettering (the sound effects things) are still a challenge, let me know if I went too heavy handed.
I chose not to do filters on the images, except for the first one. I find that most filters make the images impossible to make out.
Enjoy.
Next up, my orcs scrap with VT Chris's Bretonnian's
Excellent battle report. I think the whole format worked very well. I enjoyed popping over and seeing how my Mad Mort's were doing. That Alamo game was calling me back though. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks airborne. Yeah, the only downside to the weekend was so many cool games to play.
DeleteGame overload!!!
DeleteSweet, sweet game hangover! I don't need no cure!
DeleteI like the Comic Life format, but I found it a bit hard to tell who was who from the pictures. The captions do help a lot, though!
ReplyDeleteHi Hugh, thanks for your feed back. I think I may have committed, to my mind, the cardinal sin of battle reporting. Too many overview shots. I find that I want to be directed to the action with close ups, rather than look at a whole table shot of formations I can barely make out. One thing that may help is right clicking each image and opening in a new tab. I make them as larger as I can when displaying on the blog, but the actual images are much lager, a lot easier to make things out this way.
Deletelarge, not larger
Deletelarger, not lager
excellent report...rough day for the Green Skins eh?
ReplyDeleteThanks Blue, it was a hard slog. Those Dark elves are tough.
DeleteTough luck, great looking game though. At least you didn't fall apart from animosity checks.
ReplyDeleteCold one knights are brutal even with their ridiculous rules for charging. I hope next time you can muster some war machines, as my ordnance master Gaksplat Da Teef has said time and again;
"Oi Boss deez rock tossas we knicked from dem dead stunties make dem panzy pink gobs splat good"
I imagine they'd work the same on the ornate manicured blue skins too!
Hi 24_Cigs, animosity was not a big problem this time. In the past my army flew apart before I made it to the enemy. I need to work on engines and cavalry. I have some, just didn't get it going for the event. I was worried about having enough rank & file.
