Promoting Edwin's giveaway, with extra real life

I've been meaning to post for several days now but have really been dragging.

Check out the giveaway over at Thoughts of a Depressive Diplomatist here. He's got some quite excellent looking books up as prizes.

I'm still plugging away at my Romans and Egyptians for Talomir, you can read about the latest campaign update here. Because both Javier and I are players, who happen to live in separate countries, someone else will play out our battle. Honestly I think it is stupid for Tereken to goad Altengard like it is, but there are many forces driving us to war. I had hoped that Altengard would remain focused on the larger threat of Treyine, since they are now the largest empire.

I'll have some more progress shots in a day or so as I get caught back up. Of course since I had to dip into my box of Nubians to fill out the Stygustan archers I had to research how to paint African flesh and buy more paint. I'll share with you what I found.

In real life my training and body composition are going fairly well, but I over did it on Sunday with a run, heavy leg training and then two hours of San Soo practice. Today is the first day that my left leg didn't feel like it was going to fall off. I'm now third in the club and 69th company wide, so I'm making positive progress. ***Update on the numbers, 3rd and 69th were last week. After this weeks results I'm 1st in the club and 21st nationally. Yeah me.***

I had a minor incident yesterday on the way to pick my kids up from school. It was a half day and I was biking over there as usual. An SUV with an undetermined number of teens came up behind me and yelled out the window as they passed. Being the sort of gentleman I am I gave them the one finger salute. That prompted the one who had his head out the window to tell me how he was going to violate my mother. Well obviously this is something that demands an immediate response, and I assure you dear readers that I was not found wanting. I said something to the effect of  "Try it you little (rhymes with rock chucker)" and found myself hoping that they would get out of the car so I could beat the living shit out of the entire bunch of them. I assume there were at least three. The crossing guard and one of the mothers heard me, but felt I was justified. I'm glad there weren't any children around but honestly I would not have been able to respond differently even if there were.

Here's a little San Soo to help drive home the image.

(youtube is being problematic and won't let me embed this video)

I'm also apparently having an issue saving my facebook photos so sharing those with you is proving problematic. Too bad, as I had a couple of good ones.

And finally I'd like to welcome Ray Hepburn. No blog listed in your profile. Please let me know if you have one.

And here is a quick picture for you:

  1. There are only two ways you could have dealt with the insult better. One, you sternly meet their eyes but remain implacable and the look you give them is the cold, abyssal, gaze of Death. Two, you memorise the car registration, track them down and slaughter them like pigs as they sleep.

    Those girls look chilly.

    1. Yeah, I wish I could keep a stiff upper lip with my sunglasses on and get out my grenade launcher in such a case but in reality, I would only end up like you screaming at them Like you did Sean...

    2. Hi Asslessman, in a perfect world I would hang their mutilated corpses from the hood of my car to act as a deterrent. But local law enforcement frowns on that sort of thing.

    3. A perfectly understandable feeling, it's actually called pedagogy. I get the same one when f***ers drive motorcycles at full speed on the bike lanes with kids, roller skaters and myself around on my bike

  2. My wife asked if I got the license plate. I was more fixated on the head poking out and they took off pretty fast after said what I said. Those girls are dressed appropriately for the 105F that just checked in over here.

    1. Ha! Your wife wanted to kill them in their sleep, she's my kind of woman.

  3. Thanks for the plug Sean.

Sorry you had to put up with dicks - the Warlord's second suggestion sounds quite satisfying.

    1. Your welcome Edwin. I was thinking more serious bodily harm than death. They would have remembered me for a very long time if it had come to blows.

  4. "think of unsexy, thoughts think of unsexy thoughts." if anyone remembers Homer Simpson in an old episode trying not to cheat on Marge. On a side note, knowing myself I probable would have chased them down on the bike and to try and catch them. Would that still be considered road rage?

    1. Thanks commissar80, Homer Simpson quotes are always appreciated here. I can bike fairly fast, but not much more than 17 or 18 mph on my mountain bike, maybe 20 if I'm lucky. At least when I've clocked myself. And yes it is road rage.

  5. I understand how you must have felt. Kids these days are not only rude but they can be dangerous. I moved to what I thought was a sleepy little town only to find that it is full of teens on meth and heroine who carry guns.

    1. Hi Anne, actually I think the countryside is getting worse than some urban areas. More guns, less cops and the slow infiltration of gangster culture into the mainstream. All these kids think they are Tupac. That's why as a rule I don't mess with people, no need to be shot over something stupid.

    1. HI Rodger, a little slow on the uptake, I get it now. Glad you liked the pic. It's why I can't have my wife looking over my shoulder when I'm on facebook.

  7. Never heard of San Soo but looked impressive, used to do a little Long Fist Kung Fu, good pimping and well done with the shitheads, all mouth and trousers that lot!

    1. Long Fist was my first style (Bak Sil Lum). Good times. I've been doing Wushu since 2001 and San Soo for the last 3-4 years (it's all a blur). The stuff in the video is a little more flashy and done by guys who hold a Master level Rank, which has to be bestowed after reaching 8th degree black belt from another master. I tend to stay away from the sacrifice throws. In real life most people wouldn't know how to take those and would either break a limb or go head first into the ground. I've guessed wrong taking a few throws and it hurts.

  8. Bloody Hell!! That San Soo looks a little rough! You should have done a few of them moves on the dicks in the car, trouble is you may well have been dragged off by the cops!

    1. Also, good to see you've dumped the dynamic look!

    2. Thanks Ray, I guess I haven't heard from you in awhile. Dumped Dynamic about a month and a half ago. San Soo is fun but can be a tad rough. I've dislocated my collar bone, landed on my face and done something to my ribs which may or may not have cracked them. Wargames are much safer.

  9. Hi Sean,

Good for them they didn't stop. Ultimately, they may win a Darwin Award. Sadly these kind of attitude is spreading fast. Crossing fingers, Hong Kong is full of stupid kids, but they learn that they are not the center of the world once they enter the job market.
And car being too expensive, they don't drive them too :)

    1. I suppose I should mellow out as I was a stupid teen once myself. My mom can take care of herself, but you threaten her in anyway and you will get swift and immediate action from me every time. My own kids learned the hard way what happens when you hit your own mother in my presence.

  10. A pity you didn't caught those suckers and teach them a lesson for free.
Anyway, the pic of those two girls makes me forget everything about violence.

Well...not quite...because I'm gonna kick your arse out of Talomir my friend ;-)

    Be safe.

    1. Nice to hear from you Javier. I always say I'm a lover, not a fighter. But I would have dealt those boys some injuries that would have taken a minimum of 6 weeks in a cast to recover from.

As for Talomir, I can only hope that whoever plays the Tereken side is a much better general than I. If it were totally up to me Tereken would have invaded the last province of Capalan or done something els while you fought Treyine. But the forces that drag nations to war are outside my control.

  11. Had to join this blog. Especially after reading how you threw down the gauntlet to defend your mums honor. Well done. Please feel free to join my blog. Believe we have some similar interests.

    1. Welcome aboard Tom. I joined your blog as well but only had time for a quick glance at it. I'll be sure to be back though as it looked very good. I can stand for a lot, but a car full of snot nose suburban little shits telling me that about my mom is not one of them.
