It is sooo on!

I've been working on lots of stuff, but nothing ready to share yet. Except for this.

Yesterday, after I got home from my martial arts stuff, my son told me that he didn't want to play with the neighbor kid across the street anymore.

They've had their ups and downs, but my son seemed to genuinely like the kid and want to play with him in general. So what was the difference? This kid, who is at most a year younger, has been teaming up with a girl who is almost 12 and going around with NERF guns. The pair of them seem to find it hilarious to shoot at my son. He has a NERF gun, that big revolver one, but can't find it right now.

When he told me of this I came up with a plan. I told him I was proud of him for not wanting to put up with jerks, and today I went out and bought him this.

It came with an 18 round magazine and can fire full auto. It's powered by 4 C size 1.5V batteries. I bought him a second clip and we may duct tape them together. The advertising says 75ft range, a youtube video demonstrated about 50ft.

We're going to work on getting comfortable with it and use it only if they want to "play" again. It's on now bitch!

  1. I was sorely tempted to get into the hobby of Nerf gun modding when I first heard about it. Read!

    1. Hi 1Mac, I had thought about it too when we bought him the NERF Maverick. But that was one project too many.

  2. Oh my goodness, a Nerf arms race - you must let us know how it pans out.

    1. Thanks Michael. The firing arc takes some getting used to. At 10ft all our shots were low when using the built in sight. I'm on the fence about whether I really want them to get into a full on NERF war. But I do look forward to seeing the look on these other kids faces should he have the opportunity to blast them with it.

  3. Never mind modifying the bullets, fit a bayonet to your nerf gun! That should put them back in their box :-)

    1. Thanks Red Dog. I did consider trying to learn about modifying the guts to make it shoot farther, or harder, but we'll wait on that.

  4. All great stuff, my eldest son has a huge arsenal of nerf guns (all modified to increase their range). You should organise a shooting contest !

    1. Thanks Zabadak. A shooting match may be too friendly for what I have in mind. As I intimated earlier. I want to spring it on them should they desire to "hunt" my son again.

  5. Hi Loki, sounds good. We wanted something that didn't need to be set up to "rain death", so to speak. He's pretty small so even this gun is pretty big on him. The only down side is the clip is so big you can't fire it from a prone position.

  6. Sean,
My wife (believe it or not) were talking about picking up 2 of these. The plan is when one of us is home, leaving a Nerf gun on the front step and a message saying "I have the other Nerf gun and am hidden in the house somewhere. Loser cooks dinner"

Nice! Remember L-Shaped ambushes are most effective!

    1. Hi Steven, sounds dangerous ;). It had crossed my mind to see if I could train him and the next door neighbor into a sniper team. The neighbor has the bolt action Hawk gun. In the interim it has been an average of 107F here, so they haven't played outside much.
