Hi All,
Finally had a moment to take and edit a couple of pictures of what I'm working on. And on a Saturday no less!?
Five of the Boar Boyz that Don sent me. The other five have had some paint applied but I'm trying to figure out the sweet spot for keeping the ball rolling on them. I've seemed to have a hard time getting myself to sit at the paint table lately.
You'll see that my entry into the Abdul Goldberg contest on the Emporium of Rogue Dreams is coming along. I have until the end of the month to finish him. I'm fired up because they have just revealed that Rick Priestly will be the judge. I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl.
My Abdul is mostly Eureka's Voltaire with a few bits from the Cadian box added and a back pack and respirator cable/tube from Dragon Forge. Be sure to check out the other entries in the Album.
Hopefully I can get more done on this guy today.
Really nice work, I have to get around to picking up some 3rd ed boar boyz
ReplyDeleteThanks Snickit, I wish these were mine. I'm painting them for someone else. I do have a few still in blister though.
DeleteYour boar boyz look wonderful Sean. Can't wait to see them complete. And the conversion is inspired. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Millsy. I was worried that the servo skull was a little too much, but I couldn't resist putting it on. I also feel like my Space pirates need to look like 17th century pirates. Lastly, how could Abdul Goldberg not have a huge wig?
DeleteNow who doesn't like Boar Boyz and these are particularly splendid.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael.
DeleteThese are all heading towards glory Sean, I'm really excited to see your finished Abdul, I really love the direction you've taken for him !
ReplyDeleteThanks JB, I'm excited to see him finished too. I'm trying to sort out color choices, metallics etc.
DeleteThe Boar Boyz look great and Abdul is coming along very nicely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gordon, I'm plugging away.
Deletegreat looking stuff! I especially like the Orc banner bearer. what material are you using on the bases?
ReplyDeleteThanks Anthony. My latest iteration of basing is a mixture of aquarium sand and two grades of railroad ballast. I slather the base with watered down PVA, dip it in the tub of mixed grit, let it dry and then apply another dose of scenic cement or other watered down PVA and use a brush to break surface tension and help it wick into the grit. This helps a little to seal it so it doesn't slough off when you go to paint it.
DeleteGreat looking figures so far! Really love the Boar Boyz!
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter
Thank you Peter, the boars are a long over due commission piece.
