But that is not the find. As I was walking down this aisle i saw these "Clean Green" Indoor/Outdoor Area Rugs. They are 6' x 9', apparently made from recycled plastic bottles and come in Green, Tan and Gray. It had no price but I figured I'd take it up and see how much it was. Imagine my surprise when it was $19.99.
Spear and Door for size reference. |
Apparently I would know all about this if I watched the series Moonshiners. George Washington raised around 13,000 troops to stop the rebellion. Who knew.
I wish I could say I had more to show of my painting, but with a football game and party for my son, as well as watching the NFL playoffs this weekend I got the bare minimum done.
In a future post I'll try to show how I'm going to pull myself out of the doldrums and get back on top of my schedule.
That battle mat looks to be a great score. I wonder if anyone carries them in this country. Not that I need one really, you understand. I have 3 large blankets... :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks AP. It was too good a deal to pass up. I can cut 2 whole mats out and still have a bit left over.
DeleteBattle mat looks like our puzzle mat only much bigger ;) Nice one, looking forward when you have it in use for the first time.
ReplyDeleteHi Paradox0n. I just need to figure out how to cut it to size efficiently. It is only about 1/4" thick.
DeleteWhat a result!
ReplyDeleteHi Michael, I'm glad I was brave enough to face certain ridicule, or at least eye rolling, from SWMBO.
DeleteThe mat is certainly a good price. I can't tell much about its texture, but it really is GREEN, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHi Hugh. The price is right for sure. It is billiard table green but I'm going to try and paint it. The texture is like a coarse felt. I'll try to show some more pictures to give you a better idea.
DeleteIts definitely green but I think a little work with an airbrush or a can of spray paint and you can tone that down quite nicely. Nice find, I might have to wander through Costco this week.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, that's what I was thinking. I think I have an old pressurized garden sprayer, I think Dux H used something like that to spray his terrain boards. I just need to review the technique.
DeleteNever heard of The Whiskey Rebellion??? Great looking mat though and so cheap too!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ray, me neither. There were some tar and featherings, the militia was raised and marched out. Not much came of it all.
DeleteThanks Andrew.
ReplyDeleteGood finding for your battle mat. I will never have enough space at home for such a huge mat, but I'd love to have that price down here for a smaller one.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it came to me, here are some minis in 1/72 fantasy:

Alliance 1/72 :

Hi Cedric. The mat is huge, it really is a carpet, so I will definitely cut it up to use it. Thanks for the link on the undead figures. I've seen always model, but haven't ordered from them before. What I don't understand about the site is there stock designation is x out of stock?
DeleteI ordered from them for my 1/72 collection of WW2 armies. The company is reliable, based in Taiwan and easy to email directly.

He is very helpful, as to limit the shipping, we worked the best way to reduce size and weight without affecting the integrity of the plastic minis. Good for a try
Sounds good Cedric. I'll probably give him a try. When I do I'll mention your name.
DeleteI am always buying stuff that is never suitable as a battle mat - IKEA, stores, fabric shops etc. I finally bit the bullet and go some railway terrain grass mats. But if I see something like the mat you got, I would buy it anyway - it would cover an entire table tennis table!
ReplyDeleteHi Shaun, guilty as charged. I too have bought a few doormats and off cuts for gaming that haven't seen the light of day. Probably why my wife rolled her eyes when she saw the carpet in the corner.
DeleteGreat score Sean!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rodger, I think so. Hope to have it out in a battle report soon.
