X-Wing - Game 1 - Political escort

Hot on the heels of the Battle Cry game, my son asked to play X-Wing. We decided (or was that I decided) to play the first mission in the back of the rule book, but using the very basic quick start rules.

Here's how it went.

It was over fairly fast. My son flew in with the Ties and broke up my formation, but tail gated the shuttle. In my reading of the rules you can't take a shot if you are in base to base contact. I tried to persuade him to ease up on the accelerator. There were many tears after I shot down the one TIE. I'm not totally sure why as I thought we were passed the "it's only fun if I win" stage. So it may be some solo X-Wing in my future.

  2. Hi Michael, I usually try to "help" him but restrained myself this time. Appears it was the wrong move.

  3. The best lessons always come the hardest.

I've been meaning to ask you, how do you get the comic book-looking storyboard on there? I would love to narrate a Bolt Action game to look like SGT Rock on my blog.

    1. Hi Steven, very true. These latest ones are done using the program Comic Life 3. I used to do them using the open source software GIMP, a free photoshop, but it took way longer. There has been a little bit of a learning curve but it is fairly straight forward. Just remember to save a lot. Every now and then I crash it and have lost the majority of a comic i was working on once.

    2. Thank you, Sean. I will remember when I put pen to paper for my Bolt Action AAR. Much appreciated!

  4. Ooops! Nevermind, he'll be back, and he won't make that mistake again! Loving the comic-book look. Cheers, Paul :-)

    1. Thanks Paul, I feel the comic AAR is a little more fun and can be a quick way to distill the information. I also think we can assimilate many pictures in this format much easier than a string of photos on the blog. Just my opinion. I just want to make my reports less of a chore to read.
