I've been Liebstered part 1

Well knock me down with a feather. I've just been awarded a Liebster in the latest go round of the award by the inimitable Justin Penwith of The Royalist Roundhead. It turns out I last received one back in December of 2012.

The conditions of the award are:

  • Link back to the blog that nominated you
  • Nominate 11 other blogs with 200 or less followers
  • Answer a couple of questions
I also saw some iterations of this years where you were supposed to pose your own questions to the next round of bloggers. I may or may not do that. I'll answer the questions first as I can see that finding blogs that have not already been nominated may be a challenge as we tend to cross pollinate here.

1. Why did you start blogging?

I started this blog back on June 25, 2011 with the stated aim of shaming myself into actual play. It seems to have worked.

2. If you could change one thing about the wargaming hobby, what would it be?

To remind people that it's supposed to be fun, and it's just a game. People who want to argue about uniforms etc need not apply.

3. What is best in life?

To crush your enemies... oh wait that's been done. To have your health and your family.

4.  Fame or Fortune?

Who cares about fame? I just want to have enough money to not have to worry about money, so I guess it's fortune.

5. What miniatures are you most proud of having painted?

I'd like to say all of them, because I so rarely finish any. But if I have to narrow it down it would be this unit of orcs that I painted in my original era. Then it would be Fladnag for my resurgence and Nar during the Analogue painting challenge.

6. How do you deal with burnout?

By drinking heavily. We'll not really. I just let the hobby ebb and flow through me. Probably blogging is where I turn first when I can't muster up the will to paint.

7. Why is a Raven like a writing desk?

I have no idea. This strikes me as one of those IQ test type questions.  I suggest. If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?

8. Star Wars or Star Trek?

Super tough question. It's like asking which one of your children do you love more. I'd have to say that Star Trek has the edge because Star Wars was the first franchise where I realized that filming decisions were being made for merchandising and video game sequences.

9. If you could only buy from one miniature company from now on, which would it be?

That is another tough one. In a way it depends on scale and material. But that's a cop out. I think right now it would have to be Caesar 1/72 miniatures. They have great sculpts, reasonable scaling and just about every period, including fantasy, that you could want.

10. What is your favorite takeaway?

As Justin pointed out, we call it "Take out" here in the States. I'm not sure what my favorite is, but what we eat the most is Chinese, followed by Thai.

And because this has the number 11 in it I'll add an 11th question.

11. What do you like most (or least) about blogging?

I like being able to connect with interesting people around the globe and feel like I'm a part of their gaming club, even if I never meet them in person.

I'll do my nominees in my next post, as I am slogging through my blog list and am only about 90 in out of 300. It's good in a way because there are several that are completely defunct. I also need to organize how I read them better because I'm having trouble keeping up.

    1. Thank you Stephen. I feel that this whole blogging thing is really a collaboration. Otherwise it just devolves into a kind of narcissism.
