Olleytoberfest!

Hi All,

Time to get serious.

One of the many topics that I tend to chat about with facebook friends are Bob Olley figures. Some people love them, some people hate them. One cannot deny that many of the Iconic Oldhammer figures were sculpted by Mr. Olley and he has been super prolific as a sculptor.

It took me awhile to find it, but here is the link on CCM wiki that puts links to all of his stuff in one place. So it got me thinking. Wouldn't it be fun to celebrate the sculpts of Bob Olley in the month of October? I know, there's already Orctober, Zom(b)tober etc, do we really need another themed project in October? No, but so what?

So, phase 1? Show us your painted Olley's. I'll wait.

From Left to Right: 30th? Anniversary Tribute sculpt Genestealer Hybrid, Iron Claw Goblins WD103 #1, 6, 7, 28; WD104 #10, 24; WD 106 #06, 17, 26.

Identifications from solengends, WD 103, WD 104, WD 106.

I feel like I have more goblins, but I'm not sure where they've gotten to.

Next? Pick an unpainted Olley in your possession and paint it. Old, new, doesn't matter. Just give us the low down on where you got it, especially if it is a newer one still available for purchase, and why you want to paint it.

Then paint it and share.

Reaper Dwarven Brewmeister and St Tarkus. Here is a link to a search of Olley sculpts on the Reaper website. My inention is to paint the Brewmeister, hence the de-blisterification.

Simple really.

Thanks for looking.

    1. Thanks Simon, I do enjoy painting Bob Olley sculpts. Although sometimes it can be quite a challenge to figure out what the various textures are supposed to be.

    1. Thanks Dai, hope to see your Olley figures when they are done. I still haven't figured out the best way to get all the figures I want to take packed and transported safely. Found a few more broken figs when I dug these out.

  4. I don't have any Olley sculpts currently in my leadpile or, sadly, among my painted figures, though I've admired a lot of his work for years. Just placed an order for some of the undead he sculpted for Reaper, should have them early next week to take part in this.

  5. Sean, I’m a big fan of Olley, too. Painted a bunch of them for the OWAC. Great idea about Olley-tober!

    1. Good news Anthony. I'll have to go back and look at your OWAC figures. Just another idea to get people painting. Choosing a specific sculptor may be a tad obscure.

  6. Fantastic initiative Sean ! Starting your own thing ( I've been wanting to do that for years now and never did managed to think of something ) , fantastic. I don't have any Olley miniatures , but I'm looking forward to see your miniatures painted ! Especially the Dwarven Brewmeister.
    Greetings

    1. Thanks Mario. I don't know how successful I've been in getting people to buy into Olleytoberfest, but it seems a few are going to paint something. October is a bad time to add another theme.
