I've been noodling around with Blender more, trying to understand how the various nodes work and get them to achieve the look I'm going for on my own project.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjluLpSRpeVwDapJv9c4BM4KIiBib-VGfJUDuUNwxP79cNJ-QRRB2D-9Dxfu5hUBV_b3ebKpqpp-lRc-2TfY2o2uTK9649RrypanuSghPD7ogndFt8OAfe8eW6ra4enWKOzJyW1CJkBab1ZgSTzehNP8dOvfVJfWviL8rbr9Chmi3L8KygnejlINNGLCg/s2726/Lin%20Bowman.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1679" data-original-width="2726" height="394" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjluLpSRpeVwDapJv9c4BM4KIiBib-VGfJUDuUNwxP79cNJ-QRRB2D-9Dxfu5hUBV_b3ebKpqpp-lRc-2TfY2o2uTK9649RrypanuSghPD7ogndFt8OAfe8eW6ra4enWKOzJyW1CJkBab1ZgSTzehNP8dOvfVJfWviL8rbr9Chmi3L8KygnejlINNGLCg/w640-h394/Lin%20Bowman.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>Here is my erstwhile map configured using Sam Bowman's procedural terrain technique but using my height map to displace. After the school year ended for us, Aidan and I went to Kublacon and had a good time. At some point I'll do a overview report of that.</p><p>I'm still sitting on our last local game of MESBG for a video/comic report and I intend to do some for the games we played at Kublacon. I'm a tad behind on doing track photos and band photos, but I should have more time soon.</p><p>In between honey do projects for my in-laws I've gotten back to working on my map.</p><p>It turns out I've gone back to some tutorials I found years ago and tried some things out.</p><p>First I roughly followed <a href="https://arsphantasia.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/arsheesh-eriond-a-tutorial-for-gimp-and-wilbur-corrections.pdf">this PDF</a> to make a height field in Photoshop. You could just use it to make the map and be done. I, of course, made things more complicated.</p><p>Here is my completed heightfield. It took me three iterations.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheBh1UwbN7vnB9ER0IUtdU2CbP-83sEoqd6_qBV0wcC6eDWsIcFn_5bCA7dUh2Lh42u_y3SiSaCECwdCtlqk_P0TnQuCSQeuh1I1wPR04jBt4a3V0oSM0xmbumdAVgLvKs1-2-ej7u620L7LxfzEbe3rJIRB5jHmlNSgJ2htNx8bxQEQRR51e5xsTHNw/s7200/Height%20Map%203rd.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="5400" data-original-width="7200" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheBh1UwbN7vnB9ER0IUtdU2CbP-83sEoqd6_qBV0wcC6eDWsIcFn_5bCA7dUh2Lh42u_y3SiSaCECwdCtlqk_P0TnQuCSQeuh1I1wPR04jBt4a3V0oSM0xmbumdAVgLvKs1-2-ej7u620L7LxfzEbe3rJIRB5jHmlNSgJ2htNx8bxQEQRR51e5xsTHNw/w640-h480/Height%20Map%203rd.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>I then tried to follow a tutorial for running this height map through Wilbur and it took me several tries before I understood what exactly was going on with the software. For one thing my image is 7200 x 5400 and that puts a lot of stress on my Surface Tablet when running things in Wilbur. Particularly Incise Flow Erosion. That aforementioned PDF talks about how to process the image through Wilbur, but I found a more in detail one that helps with placing rivers and lakes where you want them, <a href="https://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=41310">here</a>.</p><p>In it they discuss making masks and there is a very detailed PDF link included for the Wilbur operations used.</p><p>This is the Height Map I exported from Wilbur.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirOo7GbQVrufN_gyPeiXnpJSABu2jCKdgetUY8IG8DyAm0zUJ8zewNhGwqdmxVoSRn7i1eBJP8k5p9wQue2Kj2ZTakg3k66JI-9skYtD_Afudo51NqFdvp4G8-E4-qfQJriaVIizJQol4YqGYBPttUyE3PgsZcTfbZ1epsu7S6cOM7yTUiA9UqT_bQnQ/s7200/Wilbur%20Thing%20Linland%20Height%20Map.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="5400" data-original-width="7200" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirOo7GbQVrufN_gyPeiXnpJSABu2jCKdgetUY8IG8DyAm0zUJ8zewNhGwqdmxVoSRn7i1eBJP8k5p9wQue2Kj2ZTakg3k66JI-9skYtD_Afudo51NqFdvp4G8-E4-qfQJriaVIizJQol4YqGYBPttUyE3PgsZcTfbZ1epsu7S6cOM7yTUiA9UqT_bQnQ/w640-h480/Wilbur%20Thing%20Linland%20Height%20Map.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>Some of my forced river valleys are a tad clunky, but you get the overall concept.</p><p>I've then been trying to work out how to use Toby Rawal's process <a href="https://youtu.be/lz3cOzcvbtI">from this video</a>.</p><p>This is what I have so far.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-ElmQNsy_59wlRLlkkKxQJsvPxGWW7p8XablHEXlYmfFNdL6rY4WnS9ZuRXOdedNBxLBuB8X8LJ41JXZlYEeJdDeL2Iaf3PPSGsYblDjlP1JIwAYpuC-GYlFu8NdZLk77WThXLXy-FlVzg4HUpWaDen_U9urIbvGidyyHEmul7GL1OljdKW-v34jR6A/s2736/Screenshot%20(47).png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1824" data-original-width="2736" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-ElmQNsy_59wlRLlkkKxQJsvPxGWW7p8XablHEXlYmfFNdL6rY4WnS9ZuRXOdedNBxLBuB8X8LJ41JXZlYEeJdDeL2Iaf3PPSGsYblDjlP1JIwAYpuC-GYlFu8NdZLk77WThXLXy-FlVzg4HUpWaDen_U9urIbvGidyyHEmul7GL1OljdKW-v34jR6A/w640-h426/Screenshot%20(47).png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>Obviously a lot of work left to do. I mostly spent time setting up the Node tree to get all of my Textures and mixes in, but the mix is acting a tad bizarre. I don't totally care for my water at the moment and The sand should obviously only be on the shore line.</p><p>I've also played around with <a href="http://www.demenzunmedia.com/home/terresculptor/">Terresculptor</a>, but I haven't learned how to use it well yet. It does look promising though.</p><p>You can get the latest version of Wilbur (1.92 I think) <a href="http://www.fracterra.com/wilbur.html">here</a>. Supposedly if you have Fracterra from Profantasy that is the commercial version of Wilbur.</p><p>Anyway, I hope you are living your best hobby life. Let me know if you have questions or want to share how you make maps.</p><p>Cheers.</p>Seanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15428727065347379281noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802656816793750482.post-52615411444352977092022-05-15T10:14:00.000-07:002022-05-15T10:14:53.384-07:00Blender Procedural River Valley<p> Hi All,</p><p>Still around, just busy with other things and hadn't realized how long I'd abandoned the blog. In the midst of slogging through Track Photos I've been playing around with Blender and following along with some tutorials.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gyQV5IUm8B8" width="320" youtube-src-id="gyQV5IUm8B8"></iframe></div><br /><p>This one was pretty fun and informative.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizLeiwV04cUQ2QxRoOSRoDGkidoaZQkMQYocAhi5iL7Yp4vDz2pfJWA-IPAQbu4PKLcNEXOnk8KWwBAWIMTrtf21cOnQqH8Fj4gpnySb3Dz0RWnWhHlG-uF7pb6qR6c5t46mN8nPOQ-9ro7smRoL9GDBBrx-WSWMRddQL6k2yvqlUkn4VwSsUv4Q_LUQ/s2727/Procedural%20River%20Valley%20Tut.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1725" data-original-width="2727" height="404" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizLeiwV04cUQ2QxRoOSRoDGkidoaZQkMQYocAhi5iL7Yp4vDz2pfJWA-IPAQbu4PKLcNEXOnk8KWwBAWIMTrtf21cOnQqH8Fj4gpnySb3Dz0RWnWhHlG-uF7pb6qR6c5t46mN8nPOQ-9ro7smRoL9GDBBrx-WSWMRddQL6k2yvqlUkn4VwSsUv4Q_LUQ/w640-h404/Procedural%20River%20Valley%20Tut.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>I'm trying different things for the water because I'm not sold on the glass shader.</p><p>I got interested in using blender to help me with making effects and backgrounds for my videos and then remembered that I could potentially use it for map making. So I've been boot strapping that. </p><p>It's a little wonky on my Surface Pro, but it works. If I find things too limited I might upgrade to a dedicated computer.</p><p>Thanks for looking, and happy hobbying.</p>Seanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15428727065347379281noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802656816793750482.post-34373665800674902052022-02-12T10:33:00.004-07:002022-02-12T10:33:59.538-07:00Testing how to add movement to my comic book photos<p> Hi All,</p><p>One of the benefits of having trouble sleeping is that you sometimes have a lot of time to watch videos and learn how to do things.</p><p>It occurred to me that I should see how I could animate my comic videos more. So I watched a bunch of youtube videos on animation, rotoscoping etc.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgW51XSz574uYuwVGKnVim0sGBz5sx7kawk54c6z0Z72RfGvBn-9cFFBWEDzxvVfvWKXS-DW7YaH0C5rUxOsZUZLmcc4kvb4NuhdZKU0vbC0QP_5-m7fDYQcwr6KGwYuVINmcaXFI8iSYVBS1NFPSfb33WNp50w9grT207zOrjIPBUl4rhQwlA4mX9lOA=s2735" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1729" data-original-width="2735" height="404" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgW51XSz574uYuwVGKnVim0sGBz5sx7kawk54c6z0Z72RfGvBn-9cFFBWEDzxvVfvWKXS-DW7YaH0C5rUxOsZUZLmcc4kvb4NuhdZKU0vbC0QP_5-m7fDYQcwr6KGwYuVINmcaXFI8iSYVBS1NFPSfb33WNp50w9grT207zOrjIPBUl4rhQwlA4mX9lOA=w640-h404" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>It turns out that there is a time line view for photoshop and your layers can become video segments. My daughter, the animation major, was all like "duh, dad!"</p><p>Anyway the gist of it is this. cut out your subjects and put them on their own layers. Do a content aware fill to get a subject free background, and clean up as necessary. Then you can make copies and move them and resize them and drag them into video groups.</p><p>This is obviously clunky, I'm doing a position change per second in a 5 second video, so it's very basic. I just wanted to see if I could actually do it. It tried another method converting things into 3D objects, but I couldn't get it to work for some reason. I'm also not really understanding how to utilize key frames.</p><p>Here's the video from <b><a href="https://youtu.be/83FJfkvVIkQ">Youtube</a></b>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="314" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/83FJfkvVIkQ" width="378" youtube-src-id="83FJfkvVIkQ"></iframe></div><br /><p>Enjoy.</p>Seanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15428727065347379281noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802656816793750482.post-21983900592099106642022-02-05T06:06:00.000-07:002022-02-05T06:06:12.305-07:00Camera Raw in Photoshop for tweaking comic photos<p> Hi All,</p><p>I had one of those "Doh!" moments the other day.</p><p>Why wasn't I using Camera Raw to adjust image exposure in these cellphone shots?</p><p>As per usual I think I had done things differently in the past and as I got more involved in making comics and switching from DSLR to cellphone I lost some of the technique along the way.</p><p>When using DSLR I had always adjusted the RAW images in Lightroom and then exported as JPEG. When I first got into using the Cellphone again I used Snapseed to do something similar. But honestly it was a little bit of a pain doing that on the phone.</p><p>I knew about Camera Raw in Photoshop but I didn't remember how to access it. I don't use Adobe Bridge to manage my photos.</p><p>So I Googled it.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgrmF1XXeMdfOuU8rVIQnew3dGNeB0KHm-w-03fwedjBu7A0iBsgLEMYFXAlzamI-45s6dsa2C2stMZZ7Lu-tRAh1VbDPML47f0_B3pN42WhcaFfY0wnKRKlx2SajaXAFVexCeedHkEeS7S8x-M5g5aPt3OE3e31ojWWKiLWyqPT1YyrBije3Mo-os6bw=s2733" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1723" data-original-width="2733" height="404" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgrmF1XXeMdfOuU8rVIQnew3dGNeB0KHm-w-03fwedjBu7A0iBsgLEMYFXAlzamI-45s6dsa2C2stMZZ7Lu-tRAh1VbDPML47f0_B3pN42WhcaFfY0wnKRKlx2SajaXAFVexCeedHkEeS7S8x-M5g5aPt3OE3e31ojWWKiLWyqPT1YyrBije3Mo-os6bw=w640-h404" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>So we open up our same example photo.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjGiOKSTqukTxwCc_coJQ7W04c4YSPFmbc6cSTg1Vji6C_EDGzD1swn8GO07EG1jnXDIXrmif5DIMbbiBuZzXxhelSwWAB7k5S1wqi3d2ju6jeyV8vATPcbibBNuLkPRGzttfyphJD5wzejteHxhnTteFvow8paiYvmYBxCdq2MHQlSZZO39qYSI5t-rA=s2731" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1715" data-original-width="2731" height="402" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjGiOKSTqukTxwCc_coJQ7W04c4YSPFmbc6cSTg1Vji6C_EDGzD1swn8GO07EG1jnXDIXrmif5DIMbbiBuZzXxhelSwWAB7k5S1wqi3d2ju6jeyV8vATPcbibBNuLkPRGzttfyphJD5wzejteHxhnTteFvow8paiYvmYBxCdq2MHQlSZZO39qYSI5t-rA=w640-h402" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>Then Shift+Ctrl+A to open Camera Raw. What I did do though is start looking at techniques for restoring old photos and fine tuning exposure issues in Photoshop.</p><p>The video instructions that I found helpful were <a href="https://youtu.be/dhr4mA9EQYQ"><b>this</b> <b>one</b></a> by Karl Taylor and <b><a href="https://youtu.be/ZvNGvuOuvpA">this one</a></b> by Phlearn.</p><p>I've had an issue for a long time in my comics where the figures tend to show too dark. I have known that I could do some things to fix it but hadn't really put in the effort to understand it until now.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgBR7oJsEDsG3g1feUQWBTT4ND9lQbfLivS4FPh17oX4Jz07mD1Fq3V3-r6E_2CV-jbwJssCTEC5jAL8GzYDwWQn7kOvGLnYRG2pcERAntHkiKYWc-C_s4iQRyS5TEYwV25-0fVffC7qgN9eY9NJFRaHhw_rWGs9oQdSzr3ibS91rRCFc2uEuMXjN5BKw=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgBR7oJsEDsG3g1feUQWBTT4ND9lQbfLivS4FPh17oX4Jz07mD1Fq3V3-r6E_2CV-jbwJssCTEC5jAL8GzYDwWQn7kOvGLnYRG2pcERAntHkiKYWc-C_s4iQRyS5TEYwV25-0fVffC7qgN9eY9NJFRaHhw_rWGs9oQdSzr3ibS91rRCFc2uEuMXjN5BKw=w640-h640" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>You may remember this picture from my last comic. As you can see, the figures are pretty dark and muddy looking. They don't read well.</p><p>So let's open it back up in Photoshop and see if we can fix it.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhrFQ-hOk8JLUNx_hGI3lqluOoNjYZchRJDLBt4KtoCoRjner5z_CV7UQJgXtUW_eLDvhm2Ea3EmHOIT4DJrO9F1eLeadk87jcCfznKqQWgWYfSuLDBfmBqP1l9DfDPcdvyokAS9nuHVrLtKdaQtHyVrXOipqjNpRck27icRH0DFTqShcs5Qdmm8_BkpQ=s2727" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1721" data-original-width="2727" height="404" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhrFQ-hOk8JLUNx_hGI3lqluOoNjYZchRJDLBt4KtoCoRjner5z_CV7UQJgXtUW_eLDvhm2Ea3EmHOIT4DJrO9F1eLeadk87jcCfznKqQWgWYfSuLDBfmBqP1l9DfDPcdvyokAS9nuHVrLtKdaQtHyVrXOipqjNpRck27icRH0DFTqShcs5Qdmm8_BkpQ=w640-h404" width="640" /></a></div><br /> Here I've reopened the picture and inserted it into the comic template I made. I thought I was in a space between Cross Country and Track Seasons and could get my hobby together. Turns out I got myself elected to the Band Booster Board, say that five times fast, and am more or less designated photographer for the band moving forward.</p><p>I attended my first HS basketball game this week and it was pretty good. I forgot how fun it can be to watch a game played by athletes who know what they are doing. I've been watching too many years of really horrible elementary school lunch recess basketball.</p><p>Anyway, I just wanted to share with you a few pictures of a game we played of the 2014 reboot of Dungeon put out by Wizards of the Coast. We had had the game for years, but apparently had never opened the box.</p><p>It is pretty much the same game with updated art and they flip flopped you wanting to roll high for everything instead of wanting to roll low for some things.</p><p>The art is nicely updated and some of the tokens have been streamlined. For instance you now have a token to show whether your magic sword is +1 or +2.</p><p>They also updated the classes to be more in line with current D&D. You now have Rogue, Cleric, Fighter and Wizard. No more Elf as a class. They have also provided male and female playing pieces for each class. I thought it was a nice touch.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh2D0Wkq-D_XqXmUCIfOZvTUpCPxg90xkckZSTJPjB1lB4V7cCDMdXD_6bJNRRKUxTCy-nDdDIDS3fgNojk7h617CvuIxRXdGGdsJVBojQ4oSMUv52ifCPhHihy_pZoTcYWHaBR9odaH0_rjRSOTmWN05oERn1fPuJrj4eIAVQAA_hAy24KIdWb9MA4WQ=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2268" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh2D0Wkq-D_XqXmUCIfOZvTUpCPxg90xkckZSTJPjB1lB4V7cCDMdXD_6bJNRRKUxTCy-nDdDIDS3fgNojk7h617CvuIxRXdGGdsJVBojQ4oSMUv52ifCPhHihy_pZoTcYWHaBR9odaH0_rjRSOTmWN05oERn1fPuJrj4eIAVQAA_hAy24KIdWb9MA4WQ=w360-h640" width="360" /></a></div><div><br /></div>My wife chose to play the Rogue. I took Cleric, and the kids both wanted to be a Wizard. In the new game mechanic you roll to determine how many spells you start out with and then you pick cards for the spells you want. There are enough for two Wizards, it turns out. There is also a mechanic for replenishing d6 spells if the Wizard goes back to start.<div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiPyPcTxIBVWHauVooMANgI-zeeUsB1HRk6OOAvlVaamGtVYNaj7ZRiuU-3K2c55U5psMkeBOaAHgDPAOOE46obPM7R8a27wCw58sLVdtbA7RRvBT7CWrc-kcPYHDx6al2THLb3zVUV14tdnETKCHB0QyFe53JrSDuNRlPSk9D7JoaRB_4m_CydNSvxtA=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2268" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiPyPcTxIBVWHauVooMANgI-zeeUsB1HRk6OOAvlVaamGtVYNaj7ZRiuU-3K2c55U5psMkeBOaAHgDPAOOE46obPM7R8a27wCw58sLVdtbA7RRvBT7CWrc-kcPYHDx6al2THLb3zVUV14tdnETKCHB0QyFe53JrSDuNRlPSk9D7JoaRB_4m_CydNSvxtA=w360-h640" width="360" /></a></div><div><br /></div>We actually read the rules for once and more or less followed the suggested levels to go to for each class. I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm going to have to dig out a good mic for ADR because what I included in this one is pretty rough.</p><p>I had wanted to have Scourge of Iron by Cannibal Corpse be the sound track, but I didn't want the video taken down. After listening to it a million times with the royalty free music I used it has grown on me.</p><p>Enjoy.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="348" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gi-UfIn19j8" width="518" youtube-src-id="gi-UfIn19j8"></iframe></div><br /><p>I'm new to this, so still working things out.</p>Seanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15428727065347379281noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802656816793750482.post-61974790505427463392022-01-03T09:33:00.000-07:002022-01-03T09:33:20.258-07:00New Year, new comic - MESBG: Battle Companies<p> Hi All,</p><p>I finally put together a comic of the game I played against Michaelmarines at <b><a href="https://www.fantasticlegions.com/blog-1">Fantastic Legion's</a></b> house before the holidays. I ended up winning that game as the Hero, but of course I didn't take pictures. My son wanted to redeem himself after spending 4 turns in the previous game rolling 5's and 6's trying to get through a secret door on the 4th level. If you don't know, Elves discover secret doors on a 1-4 in this game. Everyone else is a 1-2.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjL0zInUPk0SNFFm_kmmKXQSgtFFAv7fbElkrNefs4yWRKZsw7FbIl6-fOa-6jWjeLivQK4GAn-kvgNCx6cKtBjIv5LW4Ubbj0Zx-OPUbAM_U-QGNlLTtFhXDcH6W9X_1GunqgtpN3PMr6duWSHdkO-4MPCckoyITYQATayanekW7GzAKOSDXRH--cGtQ=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2268" data-original-width="4032" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjL0zInUPk0SNFFm_kmmKXQSgtFFAv7fbElkrNefs4yWRKZsw7FbIl6-fOa-6jWjeLivQK4GAn-kvgNCx6cKtBjIv5LW4Ubbj0Zx-OPUbAM_U-QGNlLTtFhXDcH6W9X_1GunqgtpN3PMr6duWSHdkO-4MPCckoyITYQATayanekW7GzAKOSDXRH--cGtQ=w640-h360" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div>This is the original 1980 version of the game.<div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhEsOLzoyByEPlcXWSeBZfiVasklvn82hgs2cZodqYAX6evYDKQojgbmsfQbpjYNxAttGX-zem_ZdwYJtNtZtHgQu6vx5AARyCEpwkrv1MaoXIVKzKHBZWCfTV-o09rR-3vCxFznn3wpy1qsqEn842cOIGf4ACyq2a2JTFf9frTIuDv5RE2Eb3O0koRxg=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2268" data-original-width="4032" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhEsOLzoyByEPlcXWSeBZfiVasklvn82hgs2cZodqYAX6evYDKQojgbmsfQbpjYNxAttGX-zem_ZdwYJtNtZtHgQu6vx5AARyCEpwkrv1MaoXIVKzKHBZWCfTV-o09rR-3vCxFznn3wpy1qsqEn842cOIGf4ACyq2a2JTFf9frTIuDv5RE2Eb3O0koRxg=w640-h360" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiJ7wgGfGFHEO7QcFb4Rz5OiB-wEDMOrPsETSOB80W4u65-um8nN21zDTR0IbouHZcGTFVF7mnJgSoJ0ridIVFKy4YHbDnbIlmjBBYE1UNsAnNfK0VGceasljHXxSbzRxrXbtSXR5PwfwkRgyFdd_hgzobBb7ak4cZEJazKnLNnQ16qhPU5cM5HdI8C2Q=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2268" data-original-width="4032" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiJ7wgGfGFHEO7QcFb4Rz5OiB-wEDMOrPsETSOB80W4u65-um8nN21zDTR0IbouHZcGTFVF7mnJgSoJ0ridIVFKy4YHbDnbIlmjBBYE1UNsAnNfK0VGceasljHXxSbzRxrXbtSXR5PwfwkRgyFdd_hgzobBb7ak4cZEJazKnLNnQ16qhPU5cM5HdI8C2Q=w640-h360" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div>The long edges of the box seem to be somewhat inclusive.</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiLFD5r9oE6r5-yyp1z_agJVU3u016fEngw25YFkxx8oUr8g9gAeRwt_QTWIshXMpMCcthkKRnjrej03B_-r-IkV2MWH-RRvnI3pgahK3LUJjY5Kvpf3lKA_2IhDwL-e9vMVnztx_syu3FGMev2kx4j4dhCcLayD9sT0iHUYkq1Zllaz3nUBTCpbOwPqA=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2268" data-original-width="4032" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiLFD5r9oE6r5-yyp1z_agJVU3u016fEngw25YFkxx8oUr8g9gAeRwt_QTWIshXMpMCcthkKRnjrej03B_-r-IkV2MWH-RRvnI3pgahK3LUJjY5Kvpf3lKA_2IhDwL-e9vMVnztx_syu3FGMev2kx4j4dhCcLayD9sT0iHUYkq1Zllaz3nUBTCpbOwPqA=w640-h360" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Murder hobos running around the dungeon.</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgaRrpTzAlqpS3_wyfmCwlrxdRQtGztApqTAmUT44CGi4tQ7ILwYGIFGM7CnDbU8eN6XxNV_yLB25z8wxq525E4aSWzbw0kel1pFbQ8P6OPFVfp8M7W7Bg3xgMAXL4bsNA4K371T0-hsbY9HM6yKxWLrDzzn2BXtkqecIlPr0KaMsfPDyJZfHP4Mp_eBg=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2268" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgaRrpTzAlqpS3_wyfmCwlrxdRQtGztApqTAmUT44CGi4tQ7ILwYGIFGM7CnDbU8eN6XxNV_yLB25z8wxq525E4aSWzbw0kel1pFbQ8P6OPFVfp8M7W7Bg3xgMAXL4bsNA4K371T0-hsbY9HM6yKxWLrDzzn2BXtkqecIlPr0KaMsfPDyJZfHP4Mp_eBg=w360-h640" width="360" /></a></div><div><br /></div>This was the treasure I won after being killed by an Ogre and having to go back to the start. I'm just trying to navigate the holidays and not gain a hundred pounds. Things are pretty good and we're visiting family so that we don't lose anymore time with loved ones. We're masking, testing and have done everything we can think of to keep our elderly relatives safe.</p><p>You may disagree, but I'm faced with the fact that I may not have many more holidays with them.</p><p>Ok, enough bummer stuff. </p><p>Happy Holidays to you all!</p><p>While I haven't gotten much actual hobby done I have been able to get in some games and make the new composite banner displayed above. I'm not really a graphic artist, so I'm sure it's full of glaring errors to the professional eye, but I'm reasonably happy with it.</p><p>I also made a version that I ran through the comicifier for a new banner for my comics.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgx6vmVn1nU7vVUY2guj-RTvAKXkHs1LUBP3fgdl-0Z8gT7Ob2e56lCEbBS7ohSWJbVlyGXhopKoflNcrVczQN_JbAnVbwkNlsLG5ZoKSS9ocyUnrobKzMhYFzNaWmz3cBfmWwI5O89GTo9XzfhlMs57-qxjW00AgCgwvMiGcqLQ8kMKi_HpvkckxlLfg=s968" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="444" data-original-width="968" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgx6vmVn1nU7vVUY2guj-RTvAKXkHs1LUBP3fgdl-0Z8gT7Ob2e56lCEbBS7ohSWJbVlyGXhopKoflNcrVczQN_JbAnVbwkNlsLG5ZoKSS9ocyUnrobKzMhYFzNaWmz3cBfmWwI5O89GTo9XzfhlMs57-qxjW00AgCgwvMiGcqLQ8kMKi_HpvkckxlLfg=w640-h294" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>I decided not to do it for the blog banner because I like the clean version too.</p><p>Along with eating too much and drinking Snoop Dogg wine, we've played a few games.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj0hcNLgT2O85T4jgfZ9Z4Yufc2Wu7SZS_vrnl9OXzoNOKepdp8tZXdKwEd_wdKhXbeGpB_m_1_axUKLzT-bmLYjyOJ4wO9WqPi4vnxryY-x-f_oHKlJo6rUaMfg0iBwVgNAUq2VFJxvAnN5NWZAy6JaO2jKZhnrUM8EdeagdVZZ4dom86g_hBaKpZS_g=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2268" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj0hcNLgT2O85T4jgfZ9Z4Yufc2Wu7SZS_vrnl9OXzoNOKepdp8tZXdKwEd_wdKhXbeGpB_m_1_axUKLzT-bmLYjyOJ4wO9WqPi4vnxryY-x-f_oHKlJo6rUaMfg0iBwVgNAUq2VFJxvAnN5NWZAy6JaO2jKZhnrUM8EdeagdVZZ4dom86g_hBaKpZS_g=w360-h640" width="360" /></a></div><div><br /></div>We've been playing lots of Mahjong.<div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgJkGLidmrEYMI-qI-DzCfiyHEyIZAO4Tg7Btr5juxT-7-_5odWJVyob-8jOMNxIbuE8rwyepf64CGWVVa-7oKJRFpQ9hGndN_bTcA1ljFZczXcmsf6_qVJy9QNhvnO5M4G0TYNBgF7vpfu-WrYLhk-i5-AygNZ0xzvXZ-9tM3bVk20cqKOQuC4RwnwVg=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2268" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgJkGLidmrEYMI-qI-DzCfiyHEyIZAO4Tg7Btr5juxT-7-_5odWJVyob-8jOMNxIbuE8rwyepf64CGWVVa-7oKJRFpQ9hGndN_bTcA1ljFZczXcmsf6_qVJy9QNhvnO5M4G0TYNBgF7vpfu-WrYLhk-i5-AygNZ0xzvXZ-9tM3bVk20cqKOQuC4RwnwVg=w360-h640" width="360" /></a></div><br /><p>And we played a few games of Bears vs. Babies, but we don't quite have the hang of it yet.</p><p>We also played Dungeon yesterday, but I forgot to take pictures.</p><p>Hopefully I can get the Battle Companies game pictures processed and into a comic soon. It is definitely a product of its time, 1985 and is in the genre of games that encourage you to lie, cheat and steal your way to victory.</p><p>The ultimate goal is simple, have the most money in your swiss bank account at the end of the game. I've only ever played this game with 4 players, but it can support up to 7 and there are rules for less than 4 but with a separate mechanism to accommodate not having enough players.</p><p>The roles available for the game are: President, draws the foreign aid and proposes the budget; Generals of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Brigades each have their own troops and barracks in the city; Air Force Commander, controls the paratroops and has access to three airstrikes; Admiral, commands the marines and can call in gunboat bombardments; and the Minister of the Interior, controls the police, has a free assassination attempt per turn and can seize the chamber of deputies to force through the budget,</p><p>8 bills are drawn from the foreign aid deck each turn. Only the President knows the denominations they drew. The president then proposes how much they will distribute to the players and the budget is voted on. If it passes you get the money, if it fails the President keeps everything. </p><p>Players can start a coup if there is a coup excuse, like the Minister of the Interior seizing the chamber and ramming through the budget.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-wCTDsr3FPeHspjvsF8MBPfkrCYFAQw4SWQCG0lKucL9HktgVUEq2vk5dkyiumgnXi426OILT_EXSDbUbCQjfngxoDl0eLEHLMwwwwxLU_ITymqks3Gw2lZPL-9PwVNH0LSMs3o2bX8rr/s2048/20211126_070114.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-wCTDsr3FPeHspjvsF8MBPfkrCYFAQw4SWQCG0lKucL9HktgVUEq2vk5dkyiumgnXi426OILT_EXSDbUbCQjfngxoDl0eLEHLMwwwwxLU_ITymqks3Gw2lZPL-9PwVNH0LSMs3o2bX8rr/w640-h640/20211126_070114.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div>I believe the above picture is just after I had assassinated my daughter and taken all her money. In Junta you play a family, so you're never out of the game, you just lose cards and money in hand. My son (with the fancy beard control markers) has amassed a strange political between the Church and the Radicals. He has Christian Militia, Rioters and Student Protestors in the streets.<div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsP5MjohtZfVGY8jAFMagUnfLdPWcmPVh63xdruJO593Y3X2yVlg2nfSrYs778hiWbEgMU64cB3lDd2MoX_xO32UnIuUL1h0Vcu_M-My_CJxmSZad2WueTkc1lPwDigsxJKa6IVgIwTlGG/s2048/20211126_210407.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsP5MjohtZfVGY8jAFMagUnfLdPWcmPVh63xdruJO593Y3X2yVlg2nfSrYs778hiWbEgMU64cB3lDd2MoX_xO32UnIuUL1h0Vcu_M-My_CJxmSZad2WueTkc1lPwDigsxJKa6IVgIwTlGG/w640-h640/20211126_210407.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I'm not totally sure what all is going on here, but we had used up all the money. I was lucky in my assassination attempts and caught both my daughter and son with piles of cash in their hands. Each turn you pick one of five locations for your faction leader to be. Assassins have to guess correctly where the player is in order to have a chance at success. The Secret Police always succeed, but they can only show up at the bank on alternate turns.</p><p>Anyway it was a little diversion over the holidays. A silly game that plays a little dated, but if you like backstabbing games it's got a lot of that.</p></div>Seanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15428727065347379281noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802656816793750482.post-12778118946427203702021-11-24T14:37:00.002-07:002021-11-24T14:37:53.024-07:00Prepare to be underwhelmed - Formigny project<p> Hi All,</p><p>I've been dragging me feet on many things, but I do have progress of a sort.</p><p>The gaps are all green stuffed and I just have to put extra swords and visors on the knights.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMLO3O8OJjcy2ZL1Q_72tzLXKNT7HIWRSmCdY08hNkTbFvkwRdDlVw1IYZ_8EdZzTO6mejTSPnUZuc1iS2cmU1bZLV5B9G08o_ouPCnOXXbIdZ6UkDQ7Uk7e6kT_USFM9KvLKw_OZPlYqQ/s2048/20211121_155728.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="2048" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMLO3O8OJjcy2ZL1Q_72tzLXKNT7HIWRSmCdY08hNkTbFvkwRdDlVw1IYZ_8EdZzTO6mejTSPnUZuc1iS2cmU1bZLV5B9G08o_ouPCnOXXbIdZ6UkDQ7Uk7e6kT_USFM9KvLKw_OZPlYqQ/w640-h360/20211121_155728.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>I've also primed the first twelve archers.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE5ISRJnDkJjEAxKsKZTtG_kvLQ1asSrHg7-MDODFtUekUw5_MjgMMFQlJJYlezXghdBxhGVSEaYKi7KOIQCVna4m5QmBNG8DkMWWs8ZyFW3CGv8GoJRc0Bv0-nsb8eSsnvh6akE5cksab/s2048/20211124_141937.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE5ISRJnDkJjEAxKsKZTtG_kvLQ1asSrHg7-MDODFtUekUw5_MjgMMFQlJJYlezXghdBxhGVSEaYKi7KOIQCVna4m5QmBNG8DkMWWs8ZyFW3CGv8GoJRc0Bv0-nsb8eSsnvh6akE5cksab/w640-h640/20211124_141937.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>I know, grey primer on grey plastic. Perry shows a sword in the instructions, but I don't think there are enough swords for everybody. I feel like these guys would not be universally armed with swords so I'll scatter a few throughout the units as I build more. I have another 16 archer torsos cleaned.</p><p><b><a href="https://www.fantasticlegions.com/blog-1">Fantastic Legions</a></b> will probably not be impressed with my progress, but it is what it is. Unfortunately that one thing wasn't hobby for quite awhile.</p><p>Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic Legions sent me a link to putting on a game at Desert Wars in March 2022. He suggested Formigny in which two French Armies linked up to defeat an English expeditionary force and hastened the fall of English Normandy.</p><p>It has a little bit of everything. English longbows ravaging the French. French canons wreaking havoc and a final French cavalry charge. But nerdery knows no bounds, so I started trying to figure out why my old <a href="https://www.crosman.com/product/crosmanr-repeatairr-1077-co-177-pellet-air-rifle-black">Crosman 1077</a> (you can also get it from Amazon, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Crosman-RepeatAir-Semi-Automatic-CO2-Powered-177-Caliber/dp/B08XFQSHMP">here</a>) wouldn't hold a CO2 charge.</p><p>While not really into gun culture, I am an American male of a certain age and I enjoy plinking beer cans and shooting the occasional varmint.</p><p>After wasting several 12 gram cylinders I decided to try and find out if it was possible to to fix this rifle that I think I bought in 1993.</p><p>So I found the <a href="https://support.crosman.com/hc/en-us/articles/203360964-1077-Owner-s-Manual-EVP-1994-1998-">manual and the parts list</a> and watched a few videos.</p><p>I tried the <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Crosman-241-PELLGUNOIL-0241/dp/B0002IL6M6">Pellgunoil</a> hack. It didn't work. Before I could try using teflon tape my brother saw the crack in the end seal. (Part # 38-128)</p><p>So a quick search revealed that EBay was my best bet for parts if I didn't want to wait a month. I got the parts from <a href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/333924319967?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649">here</a>.</p><p>The last thing I needed was a half inch wide standard screwdriver to open up the Guide Collar (Part # 338-041) from the Piercing Plug (Part # 1077A018). I ordered that from Amazon <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017NMG77M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1">here</a>. In one video a guy just ground the point off of a 1/2" spade bit. But I'd rather just have the tool.</p><p>Here's the pictures.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEito3t_3Z3XN1ifzZUwxToxnsdAoSTnxYn2iLACbXhG2MOpEWITk9ePx8HXcUDyNKVf9Kc7eEe-rMmEQhZZO77l53JuJ2A3VUjF4Kn2Z355DSAEa_M7-J4Aqf6k9ODeffK6kM-5YG1MP3Of/s2048/20210731_114643marked.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="2048" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEito3t_3Z3XN1ifzZUwxToxnsdAoSTnxYn2iLACbXhG2MOpEWITk9ePx8HXcUDyNKVf9Kc7eEe-rMmEQhZZO77l53JuJ2A3VUjF4Kn2Z355DSAEa_M7-J4Aqf6k9ODeffK6kM-5YG1MP3Of/w640-h360/20210731_114643marked.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>The stock easily comes off with the three phillips (circled in red) head screwdriver. For our group that is Roll20. Our GM has gone ahead and purchased the system specific add ons and there is a digital character sheet involved.</p><p>To be fair, all digital character sheets have their own idiosyncrasies. Based on the system and the person who built its interpretation of the rules/ character creation process.</p><p>So I'll try to forensically rehash what I did for my character. I also helped one of our group input his, perhaps I will go over that one as well.</p><p>Alright I took a bunch of screenshots, lets see if we can make sense of this thing.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAtugjYCJy6I47ge04puZf81P6mJEA9zPA0wI0VOwa1ohDDLqNOAgqgT4clc_tJEC3s8HJnHDurwZV4PGfDl_Vv5KKTmkcdkygNFOhBkZqJPbfBCVMhhFHvZpjwVopsez9Ws1HINZ4OXpT/s2048/Screenshot+%252815%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAtugjYCJy6I47ge04puZf81P6mJEA9zPA0wI0VOwa1ohDDLqNOAgqgT4clc_tJEC3s8HJnHDurwZV4PGfDl_Vv5KKTmkcdkygNFOhBkZqJPbfBCVMhhFHvZpjwVopsez9Ws1HINZ4OXpT/w640-h426/Screenshot+%252815%2529.png" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>So we start on the "MAIN" page button/tab. It's a little weird in that you input values into the blue shaded cells, but not all of them. So I entered Name, Species, Class, Age, Height Hair and Eyes. I think I also input my initial characteristics. I am not totally sure, but I think we found out you had to click on the header text to activate the cell for entry. I guess it's a good way to prevent inadvertently changing your values, but it was frustrating. I think when I input my movement of 4 it calculated and filled the other two. I also input my Resilience and Fate.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1kwjLE6G5qrBv9BYHc1cP6J_fP0BW0JQcHWxJ2MP4GA-bPuJWtphBxfIzkpVCpCOJjr-Ym82cwmHJOT-DcBEGwjG37y7qEdpgGNkEwSn8fk1IGdQ6Ra846I69-Rk_FST9MEZLOFCEYBEJ/s2048/Screenshot+%252816%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1kwjLE6G5qrBv9BYHc1cP6J_fP0BW0JQcHWxJ2MP4GA-bPuJWtphBxfIzkpVCpCOJjr-Ym82cwmHJOT-DcBEGwjG37y7qEdpgGNkEwSn8fk1IGdQ6Ra846I69-Rk_FST9MEZLOFCEYBEJ/w640-h426/Screenshot+%252816%2529.png" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Although the timing is a bit off, ie I had to go to the advanced tab for some things first, I entered Talents and specific advanced skills. You just hit the little plus sign. If you need to delete something you need to hit the edit (pen) symbol.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2_kMEnkKVAeKA1jzdVQwp-DTlmsLf6ih7Yj4YiJ9hhNWdQM-VMFwiTjXB8-jhWYpngwlQxwxsNMaA_QtByvw3Al-U3mX5ZjUFDpZ76wRIjysxy_NUAYmg1syEKuJmI-bSdkcitTIbt4mQ/s2048/Screenshot+%252817%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2_kMEnkKVAeKA1jzdVQwp-DTlmsLf6ih7Yj4YiJ9hhNWdQM-VMFwiTjXB8-jhWYpngwlQxwxsNMaA_QtByvw3Al-U3mX5ZjUFDpZ76wRIjysxy_NUAYmg1syEKuJmI-bSdkcitTIbt4mQ/w640-h426/Screenshot+%252817%2529.png" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Just showing the bottom of the main page.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzwlcIMGVjpL63KP96GQQF6h5YLYw7eB8kZrDJZGwnEuOJ2H2My2EBrfGurZ2p_yifXxnXIvU82YmGkm963gpCuGuXyvlIqNWZxeosWCWjlpSqtIKLb54GOHJOgDe92Gdz447fSvxClPpx/s2048/Screenshot+%252818%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzwlcIMGVjpL63KP96GQQF6h5YLYw7eB8kZrDJZGwnEuOJ2H2My2EBrfGurZ2p_yifXxnXIvU82YmGkm963gpCuGuXyvlIqNWZxeosWCWjlpSqtIKLb54GOHJOgDe92Gdz447fSvxClPpx/w640-h426/Screenshot+%252818%2529.png" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Now we're at the "ADVANCES" page. You don't have to re-enter the top part with your name etc. You definitely need to click on the column text to be able to put in your advances. As a Human I got 5. You also need to input your career Skills and Talents and distribute your 40(?) points or whatever it is. I can't remember at the moment.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6ZuzKNEjirDg2Lcz1WohJxzAssbw_B_XowPmt6CP4zOOziWr32-WTzvZxMZVpgBb-mJuj2dRTJ5WGY6JgiusdgIfyBwqthRaLbVZwtDu70TIP2lFygwEcB8uXsW16WPlwxCXeW3UIjxey/s2048/Screenshot+%252819%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6ZuzKNEjirDg2Lcz1WohJxzAssbw_B_XowPmt6CP4zOOziWr32-WTzvZxMZVpgBb-mJuj2dRTJ5WGY6JgiusdgIfyBwqthRaLbVZwtDu70TIP2lFygwEcB8uXsW16WPlwxCXeW3UIjxey/w640-h426/Screenshot+%252819%2529.png" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>At the bottom of the page is your Species Talents and skills. Now I thought you could play with the bonus values, like the career skills, but you cannot. You have a choice of +3 or +5 only and you get 3 of each. The one weird thing is that if you wear something it's Encumbrance no longer counts. Seems odd. You of course have to wear armor and/or shield to get the armor point fields to populate. I'm not sure if I put the dagger damage in correctly or not, but I think so. Oh and wealth you just input.</p><p>Hopefully that helps if you are struggling to get your character into roll20. If you have any tips or hacks for doing it better, please let me know.</p><p>Happy hobbying.</p>Seanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15428727065347379281noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802656816793750482.post-19502667242021321822021-07-17T16:05:00.000-07:002021-07-17T16:05:50.349-07:00Map making resources - Nice Photoshop Brushes<p> Hi All,</p><p>Well, life grinds ever onward and I haven't had as much "free" time as I thought I might. To be honest I might also not be using my downtime very effectively, but that's nothing new.</p><p>For today I wanted to share some photoshop brushes I found for fantasy map making. As many of you may recall, I have been making some and mostly waffling about fantasy maps. I have used Hexographer and Worldographer, but never really been satisfied with my attempts with it. I recently purchased Campaign Cartographer through Humble Bundle. It looks good, but I haven't had it in me to work through the tutorials yet.</p><p>So I thought, maybe someone has made some photoshop brushes for the Dutch Cartographer Blaeu? I had this idea way back when, but like most of my ideas, never pulled the trigger. One Google search later I found this gentleman's website. <a href="https://kmalexander.com/home/">K.M. Alexander</a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgK7Syj4ioMeYnAI1hZLMUx9LVei9fUEzOv5Epx0Li9dDrZiorw2Bsu1piNfWdjz_ZtTApzEQlZMeipZge2XM0uvvYRn9Rzenj0wn4cjAAxSLbJiwj72Mg3aavexeq6aQsqjEIPpPMjTCw/s2628/Screenshot+%25285%2529+crop.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1197" data-original-width="2628" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgK7Syj4ioMeYnAI1hZLMUx9LVei9fUEzOv5Epx0Li9dDrZiorw2Bsu1piNfWdjz_ZtTApzEQlZMeipZge2XM0uvvYRn9Rzenj0wn4cjAAxSLbJiwj72Mg3aavexeq6aQsqjEIPpPMjTCw/w640-h292/Screenshot+%25285%2529+crop.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>He is apparently an author and it looks like he likes to make his own maps for his novels. I might try out one of his books or just "buy a coffee" for him as a way of saying thanks. If you go to my WFRP page on the blog you will find links to youtube of our actual play. We just finished The Thousand Thrones campaign. It only took us several years and 54 episodes.</p><p>I referenced <a href="https://thegngrnoob.wordpress.com/2019/01/27/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay-4th-edition-character-creation/">this post</a> from The Ginger Noob to guide me through the process of character creation. Honestly, the rule book does a pretty good job of walking you through the process, but it's nice to have a reference.</p><p>I give you Johannes Knappen.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6BySBBPJUOHBr98DW6oNDQhEHEwmjezhr7UpBqKrCnfLppYGZCNFaeUKncC-Y66kdn-y9NwqdWRhLUq0CwAlSi_hXSPvS0clGVNr0i8oC4p_4x3v8R0QkEwIlk2HbTKQmO8lPS3M-dAB5/s1290/JKnappen+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1290" data-original-width="985" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6BySBBPJUOHBr98DW6oNDQhEHEwmjezhr7UpBqKrCnfLppYGZCNFaeUKncC-Y66kdn-y9NwqdWRhLUq0CwAlSi_hXSPvS0clGVNr0i8oC4p_4x3v8R0QkEwIlk2HbTKQmO8lPS3M-dAB5/w488-h640/JKnappen+front.jpg" width="488" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZI8jPbY2MK3blKusrUQNxCGFUozr_0HOVo4LKZN-vI90WKiH6iNYLb03dhFtrYDjYO7VSl916gt7CkABWS8NcYHLdIZ-ObTtiVo0aSZrO1y37UTHPj0bFbIl7rjkscSzB__LyANOgLI8P/s1260/JKnappen+back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1260" data-original-width="978" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZI8jPbY2MK3blKusrUQNxCGFUozr_0HOVo4LKZN-vI90WKiH6iNYLb03dhFtrYDjYO7VSl916gt7CkABWS8NcYHLdIZ-ObTtiVo0aSZrO1y37UTHPj0bFbIl7rjkscSzB__LyANOgLI8P/w496-h640/JKnappen+back.jpg" width="496" /></a></div><br /><p>I started this character a couple of weeks ago, and was taking notes of my rolls etc to do a similar walk through post, but then of course I left those notes at home and finished the character without them or writing things down.</p><p>I have 3 extra points to distribute between Fate and Resilience. I was thinking to make both my fate and resilience 3, but I don't really know how resilience works yet. I also haven't written down my ambitions, but they may develop from the 10 questions that you're supposed to ask yourself to flesh out your character.</p><p>These are mine:</p><p></p><p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;">
Ten Questions to flesh out your WFRP character.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>1. Where are you
from?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> From the town of
Hupeberg at the foot of the Grey Mountains.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>2. What is your
family like?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> The Knappen family
has recently come into the academic class. Peer Knappen was the son
of an Imperial officer and Katrin the daughter of farmers. They met
as students in Altdorf and returned to their home town Hupeberg upon
graduation. Johannes’ younger brother Karl “Shwartzkopf” is
studying Bright magic in Altdorf.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>3. What was your
childhood like?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> My parents always
stressed education and encouraged me and my brother to go to school
and become academics as well.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>4.Why did you
leave home?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> To pursue further
studies as an apothecary.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>5. Who are your
best friends?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> Ulli, a fellow
apothecary student from home and Sigismund, a brawler and gambler
from the Inn that Johannes and Ulli carouse in.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>6. What is your
greatest desire?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> To unlock the
secrets of potion making and rid the world of disease.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>7. What are your
best and worst memories?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> My best memory is
completing my goal of becoming an Apothecary’s apprentice. My worst
memory is being unable to keep my mother from dying of the bloody
flux.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>8. What are your
religious beliefs?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> Like all good
citizens of the Empire I observe the rites of Sigmar, but I pray to
Shallya to help me heal others.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>9. To whom, or
what, are you loyal?</b></p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"> I am loyal to my
friends, family, and the Emperor of course.</p>
<p style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;"><b>10. Why are you
adventuring?</b></p>
<p style="font-weight: normal; line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0in;">
To uncover the secrets that will rid the world of disease.</p><br /><p></p><p>So if you've seen any of my previous characters or listened to our game play, you'll note that this is a bit of a departure from my normal type. Usually I play a guy who hacks stuff with a sword and asks questions later.</p><p>I'm not sure how dooming works in this game, hopefully I get one that I can get my head around for gameplay purposes.</p><p>What's everybody else playing?</p>Seanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15428727065347379281noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802656816793750482.post-17582810548330460082021-06-21T05:56:00.000-07:002021-06-21T05:56:37.911-07:00Getting back to "Normal"<p> Hi All,</p><p>Once again I'm back to apologize for abandoning the blog. Totally unintentional, but it happened.</p><p>To be honest, I've been having a rough time. I didn't really want to bore whoever still reads this with it, but I've been in perhaps the deepest and darkest depression that I've had in 30 years or so. Many people online are sharing their stories, and I think overall that's a good thing. I don't really want to do that here, I just wanted to sort of explain myself a little. I've always felt like my blog was more or less like having a conversation with people about what we are mutually interested in.</p><p>So the gist of it is this. I'm going to be changing the blog and perhaps the way I do hobby. Right now the things I've been doing for the last few years are not doing it for me, so I'm going to work towards finding the joy in the hobby rather than let the dark side of my thoughts get in the way.</p><p>I'm going to go back to a more of "this is what I'm doing" rather than a completely polished" what I've done" approach. (I know, my polished may be the WIP of someone else.)</p><p>Anyway, the blog will be nine years old at the end of the week. I had hoped to have retooled it and having some new posts, but I've had another life gut punch in the interim. So it may be a little while until I can really get back into the full swing of regular posting.</p><p>I've also been very irritated by all the spam on blogger these days. Perhaps that is because I'm not really active on it and I'm getting notifications from other blogs that are semi abandoned as well.</p><p>Anyway, I am getting help for my depression and, gut punch aside, things are getting better. It's ok to not be ok. It's ok to be open about it. It's ok to keep it to yourself and your healthcare provider. Just know that you don't have to "suck it up" and that you will be alright. I wrote about it on my blog <a href="https://seanswgcorner.blogspot.com/2019/09/a-new-comic-from-photo-method.html">here</a>.</p><p>Right now my work flow is to paste new photos into the base layer smart object and then do all the edits in the smart object. It has all of the blood splatter, muzzle flashes, sky backgrounds etc in different layers. I've also put in a blank layer to use the clone stamp tool to fix distracting things in the images in a non destructive manner.</p><p>Here's a few examples.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmFFw1E2ijwOOVsCHAvbAJ12jSC-2Rpr5iBwhfPc1SyFp6kCnnh2QumMht9wukSOiezh7Yl15vLuViLH64fvdKezxsfsf9Eaazzoz8y1-wWYyYYib4D9_mgrgrxRkRELpLdrhkuDMMrmfM/s2048/20201024_161625.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmFFw1E2ijwOOVsCHAvbAJ12jSC-2Rpr5iBwhfPc1SyFp6kCnnh2QumMht9wukSOiezh7Yl15vLuViLH64fvdKezxsfsf9Eaazzoz8y1-wWYyYYib4D9_mgrgrxRkRELpLdrhkuDMMrmfM/w480-h640/20201024_161625.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVkeVvOSb9fIynLnRSOlwsuj_eqHrNHuU18PWu9-RLwWTPAhJug3am0NTLvkoRy69QGlUHUgaSZl4Y3azfhZhqksLSHB4m-GFJZg88qqlo08UrpDC9t2n9tsu0vtWQ2Owv0gvjXU9Unnfe/s2048/20201024_161625_comic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVkeVvOSb9fIynLnRSOlwsuj_eqHrNHuU18PWu9-RLwWTPAhJug3am0NTLvkoRy69QGlUHUgaSZl4Y3azfhZhqksLSHB4m-GFJZg88qqlo08UrpDC9t2n9tsu0vtWQ2Owv0gvjXU9Unnfe/w480-h640/20201024_161625_comic.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>So what we see here are the effects added and the distracting elements of game aids covered up via the clone stamp.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggcj6S5I3yO8QWL12jz8iLsjHi3gBGm2viMwStoUjxRQipQCPrLkE_FXXvOuGHzCOhVSblH7NHrxzBvlVQAHXF4mnLSU2v6jg1hS8PrGyvLp_Lo3bCJDbkZBN-9I8Ml_y0I3kWJ5A8x9DM/s2048/20201121_115424.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="2048" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggcj6S5I3yO8QWL12jz8iLsjHi3gBGm2viMwStoUjxRQipQCPrLkE_FXXvOuGHzCOhVSblH7NHrxzBvlVQAHXF4mnLSU2v6jg1hS8PrGyvLp_Lo3bCJDbkZBN-9I8Ml_y0I3kWJ5A8x9DM/w640-h360/20201121_115424.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8tjuE6iuzwzHUxksooTUwwTaBoZCsaRRauAOi79byz4kvOeOqpdOHd1pRFVpHeX-BAD-ISlcWAiJOfCxgD9rAyYPsLTTF0d-2qQixgsqsy1oMuAQS2EOiQhVzxl8vaZneNWadJDj06pPe/s2048/20201121_115424_comic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="2048" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8tjuE6iuzwzHUxksooTUwwTaBoZCsaRRauAOi79byz4kvOeOqpdOHd1pRFVpHeX-BAD-ISlcWAiJOfCxgD9rAyYPsLTTF0d-2qQixgsqsy1oMuAQS2EOiQhVzxl8vaZneNWadJDj06pPe/w640-h360/20201121_115424_comic.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>Again with the clone stamp because the perspective of the shot would have been weird to have sky there. The background and table weren't super cluttered or distracting, but I thought it would help with the story immersion if I covered it up.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrV3FsNhiK3vH1dcvznVjZExp1STeAiECi4jTiKIaQDUkqF114vt5RfdYbmqPYyNPoXsV7GXhgtkSIk_Ct7u5W8T9malBtdF_xHwit9J6mkexNB0Yr4JS_pRW4XQGGUhRAnjiugUcizeqP/s2048/Isengard+page+bg_comic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1479" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrV3FsNhiK3vH1dcvznVjZExp1STeAiECi4jTiKIaQDUkqF114vt5RfdYbmqPYyNPoXsV7GXhgtkSIk_Ct7u5W8T9malBtdF_xHwit9J6mkexNB0Yr4JS_pRW4XQGGUhRAnjiugUcizeqP/w462-h640/Isengard+page+bg_comic.jpg" width="462" /></a></div><br /><p>The other thing I'm going to be working on is more photo composites. This is the background I made for the MESBG comic page background. It's made from parts of seven images I found online. I tried the technique of color matching the elements except for the palantir. The only problem was I chose to match to the grey sky that ended up getting washed out in the comic process.</p><p>Anyhow, I'm going to start exploring with more photomanipulation and the process of "Photobashing" that concept artists use. I have a lot of bootstrapping to do to get comfortable with attempting to paint or draw digitally.</p><p>Next comic hopefully in a day or two.</p>Seanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15428727065347379281noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5802656816793750482.post-649852335234714022021-02-22T15:16:00.000-07:002021-02-22T15:16:19.760-07:00Hold the Line / A Daring Rescue - Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game : Battle Companies<p> Hi All, </p><p>Our next game took place in November. This started a rash of Middle Earth Gaming. My opponent was again CJ. He has been playing since the game came out and used to play Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game in tournaments. (PS, I'm only going to refer to it as MESBG et al from here on out.)</p><p>We ended up playing two games, but as I mention in the comic I can't remember the rationale for the second game. I thought that there was something in the injury section that called for it, but I can't find it at the moment.</p><p>Once again <a href="https://www.fantasticlegions.com/">Fantastic Legions</a> hosted. The terrain is his, the Rangers are CJ's and the Uruks were painted by yours truly.</p><p>Please enjoy this two part comic.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiugy6aeuYG82wr1ppGUtbiWHnSIx7AIW7Bp4v8kvjFP21nwMDREsAF5eEUPxte-jC5c5Uq33LbwUjFpgeBODz17g7tPstBBfYIWkIvuH6Ou8Ituwd8q3ji-y5lnG33DZlaYkFkiT3w4UBg/s1650/Page_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; My strategy of running away worked for the first scenario, but I got my ass handed to me in close combat in the second. Those rangers are tough.</p><p>You may have noticed the background of the page. I made it special for this, but of course I covered it up with the panels. It was about a month after the previous one and I still didn't totally have a handle on the rules. It was the same match up as last time, but this time CJ played the Germans while I played the British.</p><p>The terrain and figures were again supplied by <a href="https://www.fantasticlegions.com/">Fantastic Legions</a> who GM'd our game alongside Brendan and Adam playing Sovs vs Americans on the other end of the table. The magic of 15mm.</p><p>CJ did a great job of laying out the terrain for the game.</p><p>Again my memory of what actually happened is pretty foggy. I feel like I pulled out a win, or at least a minor victory at the end with some sniper fire, but they were hidden and so didn't appear in the photos. Doh!</p><p>One thing I think I forgot to mention in the last comic is my use of the clone stamp in photoshop to clean up extraneous stuff in the pictures. I used it more heavily here to clean up table edges and game aids/dice so that they didn't distract from the action. I may do a side by side comparison post at a later date.</p><p>Any way, please enjoy.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiBDVh_Qo1lrkpOkCuR3snbg5Bdaya1OQjXF_SkEagjbET-KuLBjlfLUYw4mYQ4gRL0kH2utFwnoDOtDTnfqAxXPcWjZ4gIjcOKeS6aiqhOSS9sG_VIkK2nkQxtScyzPtFAg85l8lHXMeB/s1650/Page_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1650" data-original-width="1275" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiBDVh_Qo1lrkpOkCuR3snbg5Bdaya1OQjXF_SkEagjbET-KuLBjlfLUYw4mYQ4gRL0kH2utFwnoDOtDTnfqAxXPcWjZ4gIjcOKeS6aiqhOSS9sG_VIkK2nkQxtScyzPtFAg85l8lHXMeB/w494-h640/Page_1.jpg" width="494" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS4XF9SXd-B7lW3054q7yqNyUzoT9aMBVZKTxBOeAz4S0-XpFlJ9BKu0jMVJxDBFPsG3NECiKQjZz6LhNeLTMVhAJbf0S7tfTFPPG0TMNC2boZMCnvX3CV724xJpzgO969xqCLK_rB7LLc/s1650/Page_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1650" data-original-width="1275" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS4XF9SXd-B7lW3054q7yqNyUzoT9aMBVZKTxBOeAz4S0-XpFlJ9BKu0jMVJxDBFPsG3NECiKQjZz6LhNeLTMVhAJbf0S7tfTFPPG0TMNC2boZMCnvX3CV724xJpzgO969xqCLK_rB7LLc/w494-h640/Page_2.jpg" width="494" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4h4U_Em5RKxk0A7f-9nVl1yJd06CAAdunLmyzPOOCQxfDv0FDbCRmRg-4-PAf5DS12G4r6clJQBibr3S2Oom2S0F8p7wZqVUt5r69YDM7tr5HYMoINebLBdSzk_gqjiG28X-TkMy9a-Gn/s1650/Page_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1650" data-original-width="1275" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4h4U_Em5RKxk0A7f-9nVl1yJd06CAAdunLmyzPOOCQxfDv0FDbCRmRg-4-PAf5DS12G4r6clJQBibr3S2Oom2S0F8p7wZqVUt5r69YDM7tr5HYMoINebLBdSzk_gqjiG28X-TkMy9a-Gn/w494-h640/Page_3.jpg" width="494" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKcdLVrtCgpSDxIX4EpNtFyPqgfBaM8rm1D4cs7gnSSyqR6dldB_XAhgchX66M17sD_cmoWNc5nGk25gipiM9Ve4X046r6g67Ot9WQeiGrTuLzLYgTOmnSFDZgx8gAxJQyZN9RivqP7HMf/s1650/Page_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1650" data-original-width="1275" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKcdLVrtCgpSDxIX4EpNtFyPqgfBaM8rm1D4cs7gnSSyqR6dldB_XAhgchX66M17sD_cmoWNc5nGk25gipiM9Ve4X046r6g67Ot9WQeiGrTuLzLYgTOmnSFDZgx8gAxJQyZN9RivqP7HMf/w494-h640/Page_4.jpg" width="494" /></a></div><br /><p>Short and sweet.</p><p>I've been looking at more digital art techniques and videos on youtube.
